Brazil market openings continue to expand, with new agricultural trade access secured in the Eurasian Economic Union, Peru, and Togo.

Brazil’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Agriculture issued a joint press release announcing a new round of agribusiness market access victories. The announcement covers three distinct markets: the Eurasian Economic Union, Peru, and Togo. It forms part of a broader effort that has delivered 609 market openings since 2023.

Eurasian Economic Union

The Eurasian Economic Union represents a significant destination for Brazilian agribusiness exports. In 2025, the bloc imported over US$1.4 billion in Brazilian agricultural products. The newly approved products are: corn distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS or DDG) for the Eurasian Economic Union, potato pollen genetic material for Peru, and live breeding horses for Togo. Each approval opens a distinct supply channel and diversifies Brazil’s export basket into the region.

Peru

In 2025, Peru imported over US$729 million in Brazilian agricultural products. The new access arrangements deepen bilateral trade ties between the two South American neighbours. They also strengthen Brazil’s position within the broader regional agricultural supply chain.

Togo

Togo represents a newer frontier for Brazilian agribusiness. In 2025, Togo imported over US$148 million in Brazilian agricultural products. Securing access in Togo signals Brazil’s intent to diversify its export geography beyond traditional partners and into emerging African markets.

Broader Context

The 609 market openings recorded since 2023 reflect a sustained, coordinated diplomatic and technical effort by Brazil’s trade and agriculture ministries. Each opening is the result of sanitary, phytosanitary, and regulatory negotiations conducted over months or years. The approvals recently announced (around 12 May 2026) represent the latest tranche of that ongoing programme. Brazil’s agribusiness sector — a cornerstone of the national economy — continues to benefit directly from this diplomatic investment. Institutional investors and corporate exporters should monitor the pace of future approvals closely, as the pipeline of pending negotiations suggests further market access gains are likely in the near term.
