Roads still anchor the cycle
Brazil’s federal road concession programme regulated by the Agência Nacional de Transportes Terrestres (ANTT) currently represents the largest near‑term pipeline of transport infrastructure projects, with 36 concession contracts covering 18.1 thousand kilometres of federal highways and a combined R$525 billion in investments and operational services. ANTT reports that the federal highway concession portfolio now reaches R$525 billion when investments in works (CAPEX) and operational and maintenance services (OPEX) are combined. Three highway concession auctions ran between March and July 2026 — Rotas Gerais (BR‑116/BR‑251 in Minas Gerais), Rota dos Sertões (BR‑116/BR‑324 in Bahia and Pernambuco) and the optimization of Régis Bittencourt (BR‑116 in São Paulo and Paraná) — together covering about 1,620 kilometres and with expected investments of almost R$33 billion.
That pace signals a shift. The market is moving from isolated assets to repeatable execution. ANTT has approved the concession tender (edital) for the Rota Agro Central, designated Lote CN3, to be auctioned on B3 in São Paulo. The Lote CN3 project covers 887.6 kilometres along BR‑070/MT, BR‑174/MT and BR‑364/MT/RO between Cuiabá (Mato Grosso) and Vilhena (Rondônia), with R$6.13 billion in planned investment in expansion and modernization works under a 30‑year concession contract.
It is one of the clearest road bets in the current pipeline.
What else is moving in 2026?
However, the opportunity set is widening beyond transport. ANEEL has opened Public Consultation No. 032/2026 to receive contributions on the draft notice for Transmission Auction No. 01/2027, which is expected to involve R$12.9 billion in investment and is scheduled for 30 April 2027 at B3 in São Paulo. The package is notable for a second reason. The auction draft includes Brazil’s first battery energy storage contract in the national transmission auction process, with Lot 5 dedicated to contracting battery-based energy storage within the National Interconnected System (SIN).
That single addition gives the sector a new technology reference point. It also expands the financing mix available to infrastructure investors.
What does this deal pipeline mean for investors?
As a result, institutions can match risk appetite to asset type with greater precision than before.
Each segment carries a distinct risk profile. Together, they offer breadth inside a still-supported federal regulatory framework.
The pace of that conversion will define the vintage for this cycle.
